Terms of use
The terms on which this website is provided, and how we handle accuracy, donations and intellectual property.
About these terms
These terms govern your use of the website at msri.org.my, operated by Malaysian Social Research Institute (657776-U, 200401019273), a non-profit registered with the Registrar of Companies, Malaysia under the Companies Act 1965.
By using this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
Accuracy of information
We have taken care to make the information on this site accurate, and to state the source and reporting period of every figure we publish. Programme descriptions reproduce what MSRI has published about its own work.
Where information is uncertain, out of date, or awaiting confirmation, we say so on the page rather than presenting an estimate as fact. Pages carrying open questions are marked as such.
Even so, programme details, dates and figures change. The site is provided for general information, and nothing on it constitutes a contractual commitment, an offer, financial advice, or a promise of any particular outcome. If you need information you can rely on for a decision, contact us and we will confirm it in writing.
Donations
This website does not process payments and does not accept card or bank details online. Donations are arranged directly with MSRI, which issues receipts.
MSRI states that cash donations are tax-deductible under Subsection 44(6) of the Income Tax Act 1967, effective until 31 December 2026. Such approvals are time-limited and must be renewed. If you intend to rely on this for your own tax filing, please ask MSRI for its current LHDN approval letter.
Any statement on this site about how a donation is used is a description of programme funding priorities, not a guarantee about the application of a specific gift.
No payment is taken on this site
Any page, form or button on this site that appears to relate to donating routes you to email or telephone contact with MSRI. Nothing here collects payment.Intellectual property
Original content on this site, its features and its functionality — excluding content produced by third parties — remain the exclusive property of MSRI, and are protected by copyright and trademark. The MSRI name and emblem may not be used in connection with any product or service without prior written consent.
Research papers and publications linked from this site remain the property of their authors and are hosted on MSRI’s existing website. Your use of them is governed by the terms attached to those files.

Copyright complaints
We respect the intellectual property rights of others and will respond to any claim that content on this site infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights.
If you are a copyright owner, or authorised to act for one, and you believe your work has been copied in a way that constitutes infringement, email us with the subject line “Copyright Infringement” and include a detailed description of the alleged infringement. Please note that you may be held accountable for damages, including costs and legal fees, for misrepresentation or bad-faith claims.

This site links to third-party websites and services that MSRI does not own or control, including MSRI’s own document hosting and its social media pages. MSRI assumes no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of those sites, and does not warrant their offerings.
We are not responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused by or in connection with use of, or reliance on, content, goods or services available through any third-party site. Please read the terms and privacy policies of any site you visit.
