Partnerships
Partner with MSRI
MSRI delivers through partnership. We work with companies, foundations and institutional partners who want measurable results for displaced and marginalised communities in Malaysia — and who value an honest account of what is known.
Why partner with MSRI
A small institute with a long record
MSRI has worked in Malaysia since 24 November 1959, and has served more than twenty refugee communities from the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia. It is registered under the Companies Act 1965 and governed by a Board of Governors drawn from diplomacy, academia, law and corporate practice.

Ways to partner
Four ways to work with us
Tell us what you want to achieve and we will tell you honestly what MSRI can deliver, what it costs, and how it will be reported.
For companies
Corporate partnerships and CSR
Fund a programme, sponsor a cohort of students, or contribute employee time. MSRI reports on what a programme delivers, so CSR reporting has something concrete behind it.
- Programme sponsorship with agreed reporting
- Employee volunteering and skills-based support
- In-kind contributions, including computers and equipment
- Co-branded events and fundraising
For foundations and grantmakers
Grants and institutional funding
MSRI welcomes approaches from foundations and institutional funders. We will tell you plainly what is documented, what is not, and where the gaps in our reporting currently are.
- Programme grants across education, protection and food security
- Restricted or unrestricted funding
- Due-diligence information supplied on request
- Direct access to programme staff
For donors of goods
In-kind support
Material donations are used directly in programmes. Please contact MSRI before sending anything so goods can be matched to an actual current need rather than stored.
- Food and hygiene supplies
- Computers and digital equipment for the learning centre
- Household goods and baby items
- Professional services provided pro bono
For individuals
Volunteering and internships
MSRI seeks committed volunteers and interns on a part-time or full-time basis. Applications are made by email with a résumé attached.
- Teaching and classroom support
- Programme and administrative support
- Research and communications
- Short-term placements and internships

On our partner list
MSRI states that it has been a UNHCR implementing partner since 2011 and references UNHCR guidance in its protection work. Formal partnership agreements are not published on the website, so they are not reproduced here.
16 of the organisations shown above appear in material the Institute supplied directly, and we are confirming the programme and dates for each before describing them in more detail. None of the collaboration claims on this page has been invented to fill a gap.
If you need written confirmation of a partnership for due diligence, ask us and we will put you in touch with the right people.

Let’s talk about what you want to achieve
Whether you are scoping a CSR programme, running a grant round, or looking for a delivery partner in the Klang Valley, we would rather have an early conversation than a polished pitch.
