Training and enterprise support

2018 – 2020

Entrepreneurship workshops were delivered through the Sahabat Empowerment & Entrepreneurship Programme (SEE Programme), a three-month coaching programme focused on increasing the income-generating capabilities of refugees through selling goods and services.

Market and wishlist

Elham hosted a weekly market at which refugee clients could buy household goods and appliances, baby items and furniture for less than RM8 per item. Funds raised from these sales were used to run training programmes and to fund emergency cases.

The programme also maintained a refugee wishlist through which clients could request specific items. When material donations matching a request arrived — baby strollers, wheelchairs, walkers or baby cribs, for example — the items were handed to the requester free of charge.

The programme ended in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and a lack of funding.
